Commemorative Postage Stamps Released on Eve of London Olympics:Keeping the tradition of issuing postage stamps on Olympics since 1968, India Post released a set of four commemorative postage stamps and a souvenir sheet in New Delhi today. The stamps are a stylized portrayal of sportsmen engaged in Volleyball, Rowing, Sailing and Badminton (Picture of the stamps are given below). The stamps will be available in Philatelic Bureaus across the country.
London 2012 Olympic Games begin on 27th July 2012 with the theme slogan ‘Inspire a Generation’. The Olympic Games celebrate the eternal quest for excellence, and the capability of sportspersons from different nations, cultures and background to come together and compete fairly and honestly to promote peace and harmony.
India Post has been commemorating national and international events by releasing commemorative and special postage stamps.
