Paving the roads to socio economic growth

EPC world organised,Paving the roads to socio economic growth, the annual national conference at Imperial hotel New Delhi on 20th July New Delhi.Tejasvi Sharma in his editorial said Dr Singh took over the most decisive portfolio of the country. He further adds that it seems that,it is the arena, where manmohan Singh feels he can contribute the maximum a battlefield with loaded arsenals. This can be elucidated from the fact that amid a major reshuffle lingering around the UPA cabinet;the PMO has come up with a gust of announcements from the day he has taken over as finance minister.PM knowsthat Indian growth story can only be started with the word infrastructure. The first major announcements was the proposal to consolidate the road sector by awarding contract for 9500KM roads in the FY 2012-13.
Tejasvi further adds, there lies a hidden agenda too,This seems to be nly sector where government can actually show the progress in next two years i.e before 2014 Parliament election.
Epic world media group organized this conference with more than half a dozen sponsors,Universal Construction Machinery, Pavers india P Ltd, Indiamart, Tender tiger, IL&FS etc . Conference speakers  of repute added with their contribution for the subject with its comprehensive parameters for construction, research and planning details were real treat.
Prof. Srihari, Advisor and Consultant on roads and safety, Government of Karnataka threw light on the importance of good roads. India records one of the highest number of accidents in the world. He said that inland water transport must be encouraged.
Ideally, national highways should not pass through cities; ring roads should be built. Adequate budget should be allocated in advance and projects must be implemented on time to avoid escalation of cost and increase the traffic. Other challenges faced are land acquisition, getting enivironmental clearance, numerous litigations, delay in payment by the bank, conflict of interest and lack of ownership.
All the 2-lane highways must be converted into 4-lane, 4-lane highways to 6-lane ones. Restaurants, toilets and fuel stations must be constructed at every 20kms.   In few years, Nagpur will be air hub of India. By 2022, we will have a stretch of 15600km National Highway.
