If France brought back the franc at the expense of the euro it would probably not lead to a devaluation, far right presidential candidate Marine Le Pen told business leaders on Tuesday. Le Pen, who wants to hold a referendum on France’s use of the euro, said that the shared currency was not viable because of the differences in competitiveness between member countries. “Bringing back national currencies would allow each country to re-establish their real value and that is what would happen. Would that lead to a devaluation of the new franc, probably not,” she said.
