New Delhi, August 30, 2018: The Government of Uttarakhand, today organized a roadshow in the national capital, Delhi ahead of the ‘Destination Uttarakhand: Investors Summit’ scheduled from October 7-8, 2018. The state’s first ever investor summit will be organized at Dehradun and will be inaugurated by Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi. Uttarakhand’s maiden investor summit is organized in association with Government of Uttarakhand’s National Partner, Confederation of Indian Industries (CII).

Shri Trivendra Singh Rawat, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Uttarakhand addressed the roadshow. The key objective of the roadshow was to share the investment opportunities in Uttarakhand and to seek active participation for ‘Destination Uttarakhand: Investors Summit 2018’. The roadshow received encouraging response and generated enormous interest among Delhi’s business community. The delegation from Uttarakhand Government, highlighted the 12 focus sectors of the state, which include Food Processing, Horticulture & Floriculture, Herbal & Aromatic, Tourism & Hospitality, Wellness & AYUSH, Pharmaceuticals, Automobiles, Natural Fibers, IT, Renewable Energy, Biotechnology and Film Shooting.
Speaking at the Roadshow, Shri Trivendra Singh Rawat, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Uttarakhand said, “We invite your suggestions and inputs with respect to investments in our state and assure you all that we will make positive progress based on your suggestion before the investment summit starts in October this year. We are enhancing the development of the state in terms of connectivity, manpower and industrial development. Saharanpur expressway will be completed in next 1-2 years, which will result in reaching Dehradun from Delhi in less than 3 hours, Deoband and Roorkee are being connected directly through rail line and the work has started on Central Government’s INR 13000 crore Bhartamala Yogna. We have the biggest number of polytechnics in India for providing skilled manpower to various industries. An International Convention Center is proposed in Rishikesh for which 600 acres of land has already been taken. Ayurveda centers and healthcare sector are also been developed with the good business environment. We have also got a certificate of being a Film friendly state in which 46 films have already been shot in recent times and we invite film industry people to develop this relationship further
Shri Satpal Maharaj, Minister of Tourism, Government of Uttarakhand, said, “We want to create a world class tourism infrastructure in Uttarakhand and we invite all the stakeholders to be a part of this growth story. We want to develop theme parks in the state, promote culinary tourism, promote religious tourism, develop ropeway infrastructure and provide ample opportunities for local people to participate in the development. We also want to develop Uttarakhand as a preferred destination for winter tourism in India and abroad. Our Government will provide you with all the necessary assistance requirement for investment in our state.”
Mr. Utpal Kumar Singh, Chief Secretary, Government of Uttarakhand said, “We have one of the cleanest environments in the country for various industries to operate. Our state has the excellent quality of human resource available and is ready to develop skills as per industry requirements. Law and order situation is stable. We already have got INR 25,000 crores of investment for development of the highway sector and INR 30,000 core for developing railway infrastructure in the state. Air connectivity to rest of the country and within the state has also improved with currently 22 flights operating in the state. ”
Addressing the industry leaders at the roadshow, Ms. Manisha Panwar, Principal Secretary, Industries, Government of Uttarakhand said, “We have established a single window clearance system for investors for the ease of doing business in Uttarakhand. A website investuttarakhand.com has also been put in place for providing information about various investment opportunities in Uttarakhand for investors, which are integrated with various departments for required clearances. All the submitted proposals are placed before respective committees to discuss and every 15 days the progress is discussed by various departments. We have 12 focus sectors which are open for investments and their sector profiles are also available on investuttarakhand.com. Templates of projects which are ready for investment are also available on the website for the investor’s reference.”
In the area of tourism, Mr. Dilip Jawalkar, Secretary, Tourism, Government of Uttarakhand said “We are pleased to share that because of enhancing tourism infrastructure in Uttarakhand there has been a huge influx of pilgrims and travelers in the state, which has crossed a number of 3.5 cores people per annum. For investment purposes, the tourism sector is not only providing avenues in spiritual or wellness areas but also in many other areas. Our aim is to develop the state into a global tourism destination by providing world-class facilities to the tourists.  We have already formed investment facilities centers for investor’s handholding in the tourism sector and have established a single window clearance system to clear the proposals in a short and timely manner. There has been work being done to develop Dehradun- Mussoorie ropeway, Nainital ropeway, Yamunotri ropeway for the tourists.  We are also working on developing hospitality skilling center in Mussoorie and Nainital.
Ms. Sowjanya, Director General/ Commissioner, Industries, “We have all the policies prepared for the 12 focus sectors for the investor’s reference. Uttarakhand has developed special incentive schemes for the women in manufacturing and service sectors. We are providing land registration fee rebates and have one of the cheapest power available in the country for business operations. We are also coming with Uttarakhand electric vehicle policy, which will also be of interest to relevant stakeholders. In order to attract investment in the various sectors of the state and thus contribute to the development of the economy as a whole, the Government of Uttarakhand has taken several policy initiatives. In addition to the State MSME Policy 2015 and Mega Industrial & Investment Policy 2015, dedicated sector policies have been drafted to boost the industrial climate and act as a facilitator of business. The online Single Window Clearance System facilitates speedy clearances as well as provides relevant information.
Uttarakhand offers a geographical advantage to budding entrepreneurs of Delhi. The state’s industry can cater to the important consumer market of the National Capital Region due to its physical proximity and seamless connectivity.  Important industrial areas of the state lie in the influence region of Amritsar Kolkata industrial corridor which will open up new opportunities. It also has a well-established industrial base of long-standing and reputed business houses, with a large number of ancillary units in Udham Singh Nagar, Haridwar, etc. Major players have set up their units in Uttarakhand due to congenial business environment with their state-of-the-art operating practices being fed into the local production environment.

The Government of Uttarakhand is organizing ‘Uttarakhand Investors Summit 2018’ on October 7-8 2018 in coordination with all departments related to the 12 focus sectors identified by the state. It will be a mega event, gathering investors, manufacturers, producers, policymakers, and organizations from the global business ecosystem.
