Javadekar:BS-6 emission norms from 2020

Speaking at a World Environment Day function in New Delhi, Mr Javadekar said, the BS-6 norms compliant  vehicles will be available in the country from 2020.He added that this will help in reducing the air pollution. Mr Javadekar underscored that over sixty thousand crore rupees have been invested in this direction.
The Minister said, air quality has improved in the national capital due to the concerted actions of the government . Citing that in 2014 in the National Capital the number of poor air quality days was 300 and it came down to 206 days in 2018, the Minister expressed hope that it will further reduce this year. Mr Javadekar said, air pollution is a global challenge and it requires a concerted efforts by all stakeholders to deal with the challenge.
Mr Javadekar also launched a three-minute short film competition on air pollution for which the last date of entry is 30th September. Speaking on the occasion, Minister of State of Environment Babul Supriyo appealed to the people to involve themselves in making the planet safe. He said, India is among those nine countries where the forest cover has increased by one percent. Environment Secretary C K Mishra was also present on the occasion.
