TRADERS DISAPPOINTED WITH CONGRESS MANIFESTO
7 CRORE TRADERS TO VOTE AS A VOTE BANK IN ELECTIONS

Under the umbrella of the Confederation of All India (CAIT) more than 200 prominent trade leaders of the Country belonging to 26 States began their two days National Conference today at Pondicherry to decide the role and strategy of trading community In forthcoming Lok Sabha elections . The trade leaders unanimously decided that the party or parties which will recognise the Traders National Charter will be outrightly supporting and voting such party.

There are about 40 thousand Trade bodies across Country which collectively represents more than 7 crore traders across Country. More than 30 crore people are dependent upon these traders for their livelihood as employees etc thereby constituting one of the largest vote Bank in the Country.

While commenting on manifesto of Congress CAIT National President Mr B C Bhartia & Mr Praveen Khandelwal said that it has not given any priority to traders and have sum up the issues in just two lines related to abolition of E way Bill and one single rate of GST.

Saying about Congress Manifesto declaring that no permission will be required for first three years of conducting any business, the trade leaders said that it is quite illogical and can’t be implemented as traders have to comply with various Acts and Rules passed by the Parliament under which different types of licenses, permissions are required to obtain. Various Acts are such as GST Act, Food Safety & Standards Act, Shop & Establishment Act, Trade Licenses Act and many others. Without amending these Acts by Parliament & other legislatures , necessary licenses and permissions are mandatory for any trader. Merely making an announcement do not hold good and therefore it’s a lofty promise which do not stands on test.

Both Mr Bhartia & Mr Khandelwal said that however the traders are fraught with various burning issues which are totally overlooked by Congress. Issues like FDI in retail, e Commerce , National Trade Policy for Retail Trade, better infrastructural facilities in markets, growth and development of domestic trade in the Country, encouragement to traders for enhancement in exports are the subjects which must have received attention of Congress party. The trade leaders are highly disappointed with manifesto of the Congress and strongly condemn the approach of Congress Party towards business community of the Country.

Speaking about the deliberations held today at the Conference, CAIT  Mr B C Bhartia &  Mr Praveen Khandelwal said that traders have been grossly neglected so far in political spectrum of the Country and therefore the trade leaders at the Conference decided to play a crucial role in forthcoming elections and will vote collectively as a vote bank to the party or parties who will commit to bring the business community on its priority . After analysing the response of the parties, the CAIT will issue a mandate. The CAIT is drafting a National Charter of Traders which will be released soon and will be sent to all political parties.

Samarth Dwivedi matches course record with a stunning 63 to set the bar in round one of Pune Open

Pune, April 2, 2019: Ahmedabad-based Samarth Dwivedi matched the course record at the Poona Club Golf Course with a stunning eight-under-63 to set the bar in round one of the Pune Open Golf Championship 2019.

The 26-year-old Dwivedi led the field at the Rs. 30 lakh event by one shot as Bengaluru’s Jaibir Singh was placed second thanks to his outstanding effort of seven-under-64.

Samarth Dwivedi, who made a big career decision earlier this year by moving his base from Singapore to Ahmedabad, kick-started his round with his first two birdies on the sixth and seventh. He then missed a couple of birdie opportunities on the eighth and ninth but soon got into his stride on the back-nine with four successive birdies from the 10th through the 13th. Dwivedi’s chip for eagle lipped out on the 12th.

Samarth, yet to register his maiden professional win, went on to add two more birdies on the 15th and 17th, the latter being a 20-feet conversion, to seize the early advantage. Dwivedi, who turned professional in 2016, thus equaled the course record set previously by C Muniyappa (2014 PGTI Qualifying School Final Stage), Chikkarangappa (2006), S Madaiah (2005) and Vijay Kumar (2004).

Dwivedi said, “It was just great to play bogey-free. For starters, I knew getting through the first four holes, the toughest stretch of this course, without any damage, would be half the battle won. I managed to do that successfully with pars on the first four holes. That gave me some confidence.

“The other highlight of my round was extracting birdies with long conversions on the seventh and 10th despite finding the trees and being in trouble on both holes. I feel I handled my emotions pretty well on those two occasions that helped me make good recoveries.

“My game just went to the next level on the back-nine. After gaining momentum with four consecutive birdies from the 10th to 13th I thought maybe I could even touch 10-under as I was having an ‘above average day’ with the putter and wasn’t missing any greens.

“I went through a rough patch last year as I had to go to the PGTI Q School for the first time in three years having finished outside the top-60 of the PGTI Order of Merit in 2018. Even at the Q School my performance wasn’t great. So I knew some drastic steps had to be taken. Therefore, after discussing with my family I decided to move base from Singapore to the Kalhaar Blues & Greens course in Ahmedabad where I was given full playing rights.

“The decision was taken with the intent of devoting more time to the game. The Kalhaar Blues & Greens is in great condition through the year and prepares me well for the rigours of the season. So far the relocation to Ahmedabad seems to be working out well for me.

“I’m happy with the way I’m striking the ball at the moment. If I can keep this up, I’m pretty sure that I’ll be contending later in the week,” said Samarth, who originally hails from the city of Prayagraj (previously known as Allahabad).

Twenty-eight-year-old Jaibir Singh, playing his third season as a professional, came up with the best round of his career, a seven-under-64, to be close on the heels of the leader. Jaibir, who began the day with a bogey, went on to add an eagle, seven birdies and a bogey to his card. He chipped-in for eagle on the 14th and landed it within five feet on several occasions.

Bengaluru’s Trishul Chinnappa was in third place at six-under-65 while Panchkula’s Angad Cheema and Sri Lankan N Thangaraja occupied joint fourth place at five-under-66.

Pravin Pathare and Pratik Nirmale were the best-placed Pune golfers in tied 25th. Both shot scores of even-par-71.

Chandigarh’s Harendra Gupta, the 2016 Pune Open winner and the only former champion in the field, returned a one-over-72 to be tied 36th.

  1. Beira — A total of 37,720 Mozambicans have now received shelter aid – either tarpaulins to replace destroyed roofs, or full tents – in a concerted international response to devastation brought by Cyclone Idai, one of the worst natural disasters to strike this African nation in decades.
More than half of those beneficiaries – at least 20,450 people – have been directly assisted by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and its international partners, including Oxfam, Save the Children, Red Cross, Care, World Vision and Samaritan’s Purse. Since the start of the humanitarian response, IOM has received in kind contributions of shelter material and non-food items from Italy, United Kingdom, the USA and Switzerland. On behalf of the shelter cluster, IOM is coordinating the distribution of those materials via its partners.
Two and a half weeks after Cyclone Idai made landfall in Mozambique, its impact can be seen everywhere in this port city: downed power lines; forests uprooted and trees scattered across roads and farmland; thousands of families waiting for shelter in schools that were set to open this week for spring classes.
To those obstacles here in Mozambique’s second-largest city, there are others to mention, even more dire. Reports of malaria are being added to an earlier-reported scourge: cholera.
To respond, IOM has deployed more than 30 national and international staff. They have come not just to Beira, but also to Maputo and Tete. The latter is a rural zone in the country’s highland north, where rains before Cyclone Idai swept through settlements only recently established for some 12,000 Mozambicans who fled into Malawi during a surge of civil conflict in 2016 and have been putting their lives back together (although some have since returned home or moved to nearby communities).
United Nations and government officials agree at least 1.85 million people have been affected by Cyclone Idai in Mozambique. IOM is appealing for USD 36.4 million for its emergency response for the next six months. The United Nations is urgently seeking an additional USD 282 million of relief aid over the next three months through to 30 June 2019.
Parallel to shelter distribution, IOM is also actively supporting the government on camp set-up and camp coordination. IOM has identified over 105,000 needy Mozambicans in 115 temporary settlements in Sofala, the province whose largest city is Beira.
On Friday (29 March) IOM worked in partnership with a fire brigade sent by the government of Portugal to remove fallen trees and other debris from farmland next to the Ifapa school compound near Beira’s airport. With chainsaws buzzing amid the sounds of tree branches crashing to the ground, sixteen fire-fighters cleared enough debris from a field of newly harvested cassava plants to place at least 50 emergency tents donated to IOM by UK Aid. The Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) has seconded two staffers, logistics expert Julian Rust and site planner Andreas Cippa.
“The challenge here is to face the overwhelming need, and at the same time channel the huge amount of incoming cargo that has been donated and is still coming in,” said Julian Rust. “Working with so many organizations in our logistics cluster has been inspiring for me. These people really know what they’re doing. Everyone is working hard.”
