(live-PR.com) - Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner had 45 percent of the vote, compared with 23 percent for former lawmaker Elisa Carrio and 17 percent for former Economy Minister Roberto Lavagna.
Rest percentage split the other eleven contestants. Fernandez needed 40 percent and a margin of 10 percentage points over the runner-up to avoid a runoff.Fernandez is a lawyer and senator will succeed her husband Nestor Kirchner.She become Argentina's first elected female president.The Post of President in Argentina is both state and government head as per the constitution.

The outgoing president Nestor Kirchner, stood at her side, she said she would build on his work.On being compared with Hillary Clinton or with Evita in media she said ,"I don't want to be compared with Hillary Clinton or with Evita Peron, or with anybody," she said recently."There's nothing better than being yourself."

"I want all to join in to build the future, because we have advanced a lot since 2003 in our struggle against poverty and unemployment, and I want to call on you all without hard feelings or hatred," she stressed.The payment of debts to IMF of 100 Million dollars and to other Latin American countries paid rich dividend to her in election campaign.
Argentina economy has boomed as it rebounds from the depths of the crash, with 8 per cent growth last year. Unemployment has halved and poverty rates have been slashed. The glittering pampas are flush with new wealth, thanks to Chinese demand for soy, and a forest of cranes is testimony to the builders boom in Buenos Aires.
