India and Saudi Arabia to ink 10 pacts
2010-02-28 17:08:59 - Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Saud Al Faisal said on Sunday.'Pakistan is a friendly country. Therefore, any time one sees a dangerous trend in a friendly country, one is not only sorry but worried,' the Saudi minister said after a nearly hour-long meeting with Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

He told the Indian media that Saudi Arabia believed it was the duty of the political leaders of Pakistan to unite and see that extremism did not find its way again into the country.'This can only happen by a united political leadership in Pakistan and we hope that this work will be achieved,' he said.

India and Saudi Arabia today to ink 10 pacts finalised today including an Extradition Treaty a agreements in the economic sphere for signing during Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's ongoing visit to this oil-rich country.

Dr Singh, the first Indian Prime Minister on a three-day visit at the invitation of King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud to Saudi Arabia in 28 years,
met King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and hold wide-ranging talks on issues ranging from cooperation in various areas, situation in Afghanistan and the threat of terrorism.Singh has expressed keenness to impart "strategic character" to India-Saudi Arabia ties and the agreements are expected to give a major fillip to the relations.

The Prime Minister's long overdue visit to the Kingdom comes four years after King Abdullah visited India.King Saud University will confer a doctorate on the Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh. The conferment of a doctorate is being seen as another mark of respect extended to Dr. Singh by the Saudi leadership.
