Channel SAB launches a show Papad Pol

Nksagar -Wednesday, June 23, 2010 -New Delhi “Papad Pol - Shahbuddin Rathod Ki Rangeen Duniya” is a show based on story of the imaginary world of characters created by Shahbuddin Rathod like Vinaychand, Kokila and Jayantilal etc. SAB, India’s leading family comedy entertainment channel brings ‘Papad Pol –Shahbuddin Rathod Ki Rangeen Duniya’ based on the writings of Gujarat’s legendary writer, comedian and humorist Shahbuddin Rathod. Starring talented Swapnil Joshi and the effervescent Ami Tridevi in lead roles the show premieres on 28th June and will be aired every Monday to Thursday 8pm, only on SAB.The story revolves around the Parikh family who, are searching for a perfect match for their 32 year old son Vinaychand, who is a school dropout and the apple of his mother’s eyes. There are several families who stay in close vicinity of Parikh’s. They all stay together like one big extended family .The show begins with the entire community of the Pol coming together to search for a perfect bride for their beloved Vinaychand.

The show while making us laugh; also makes us empathize with the situations we face in our daily lives. The show captures the spirit of a common man and gives a social message at the end of each episode. This show is produced by Vipul Shah of Optimystix who is also the producer of the hit show Sajan Re JhootMat Bolo on SAB TV.

Commenting on the new show launch, Mr. Anooj Kapoor, Executive Vice President & Business Head SAB, said, “We are set to launch a new show based on the works of Shri Shahbuddin Rathod whose writings are immensely popular in Gujarat. Swapnil Joshi aka Vinaychand Parikh said, “I am really excited to get an opportunity to work on a show based on the writings of Shahbuddin Rathod Ji. I have been associated with Gujarati Theater and did lot of homework to get into the skin of this character.”

He further added, “I was offered this character and immediately came on board as I fell in love with the foolish yet endearing Vinaychand Parikh. He’s a simple and loving guy. His not worldly wise and his only worry in life is to get married. Viewers in real life will find this character endearing and I hope this character will become hugely popular amongst the masses.”

Says, Ami Trivedi aka Kokila, “I have grown up reading Shahbuddin Ji’s stories and it’s great to get an opportunity to be a part of such an ensemble cast and enact the part of Kokila in the show.”
