NDA Anti-Corruption Rally on 2G spectrum scam

National Democratic Alliance (NDA) start its anti-corruption rally against UPA on Wednesday, Dec 22 at Ram Lila Maidan in Delhi and follow in eight other states:
The corruption campaign aimed to keep the pressure on UPA, which is dwindled by the continuous corruption scams.NDA convenor Sharad Yadav said “JPC means sky is the limit while PAC has limited powers.JPC is a sort of mini-Parliament which is the only instrument left to deal with the issue of corruption. I still want Congress to give up its adamant attitude. It is not good,” Mr. Yadav said addressing a press conference here. He Claimed that even Congress allies are in support of JPC, he said that a JPC this time would be a “balanced” affair as government does not have a majority in Rajya Sabha.

A Central Bureau of Investigation team on Tuesday questioned corporate lobbyist Niira Radia at her house here in connection with the 2G spectrum scam a day after the agency quizzed former telecom watchdog chief Pradeep Baijal.Official sources said a team of CBI reached Radia's farm house at Chhattarpur area at about 10 am to question her on several issues including her alleged involvement in the spectrum allocation.Official sources said a team of CBI reached Radia's farm house at Chhattarpur area at about 10 am to question her on several issues including her alleged involvement in the spectrum allocation.The CBI sleuths had earlier carried out searches at Radia's residence and the premises of her firm, Vaishnavi Communications, in New Delhi.

Supreme Court is closely monitoring the multi agency probe in the allocation of 2G spectrum to certain telecom firms.The apex court has asked CBI and ED to submit status reports on their probe to it by 10th February when the 2G spectrum case will come up for hearing.

The Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) in its report to the Parliament had said that the allocation of 2G spectrum at under valued prices had resulted in the loss of Rs 1.76 lakh crore to the exchequer.

CBI sent a notice to former Telecom Minister A Raja to appear before it for questioning in connection with alleged bunglings in allocation of spectrum to some telecom firms that resulted in loss of at least Rs 22,000 crore to the exchequer.
Former Chairman of Telecom Regulatory Authority of India Pradip Baijal was being stioned by the CBI sleuths on Monday, official sources said.Baijal, a former Disinvestment Secretary, belonged to the 1966 batch of IAS from Madhya Pradesh cadre.

Congress President Sonia Gandhi's five-point action plan outlined on Sunday to battle corruption, Dr. Singh said he wished to assure her that it would receive careful attention of his government."Our approach to corruption is clearly reflected by our acts, both in the Centre and the states. We have asked our Ministers and Chief Ministers to step down merely on the basis of suspicions because we believe in principled politics," Dr. Singh said.Hitting out at BJP for not sacking Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa, he said, "We are not like some Opposition parties who want to retain their tainted Chief Ministers despite scandal after scandal.
