Pakistan incompetent or involved: CIA chief

WASHINGTON: CIA Director Leon Panetta alleged Pakistan Tuesday, saying that it was either incompetent or involved when one look at the country's role in Osama bin Laden's whereabouts. While giving closed-doors briefing to the House members, Panetta told lawmakers "either they were involved or incompetent. Neither place is a good place to be."Panetta was responding to a question from a member of Congress about Pakistan, which was the first question of the hour-long classified briefing, sources told foreign news organisation. He said that it would not be in the United States' best interests to retaliate against Pakistan over Osama bin Laden's presence in that country.

US authorities have been pressing Islamabad hard to launch a military operation to cleanse the region of terrorists. The compound's walls, which were 15 to 20 foot high and were topped with barbed wire, were unusual for a place like Abbottabad, an unnamed official said.Another unidentified security official said the Waziristani man's connection could provide clues as to how bin Laden managed to travel to Abbottabad.Security agencies have launched a search for the Waziristani owner of the compound, which was built five years ago, the daily said.An official acknowledged that the compound might have been built close to a high security zone to protect it from prying eyes of foreign intelligence operatives, electronic surveillance and predator drones.

The compound was just yards away from a military training academy.
A massive manhunt has been launched by Pakistani security agencies to trace the owner of a million-dollar mansion, which was being used as a safe-house by slain al-Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden. The huge compound is reportedly owned by a man from Waziristan tribal region because of which the house had come to be known as "Waziristan Haveli," Dawn reported.North Waziristan is a region where US intelligence estimates that most of the terror groups like the Taliban, al-Qaeda and Haqqani network are based.Media agencies
