Shri Lakshmi Defence Solutions unveils ‘SHERPA’ (Light Armoured vehicle)

Nksagar-Sagar Media Inc: New Delhi, June 20, 2011: Shri Lakshmi Defence Solutions Ltd (SLDS), a wholly owned subsidiary of Shri Lakshmi Cotsyn Ltd, unveiled its new light armoured vehicle – ‘SHERPA’ today at the ongoing INDESEC 2011 exhibition.

The vehicle developed in a joint programme with Ford India is an indigenous vehicle designed keeping in mind the operational requirements of police and paramilitary forces. The mid-sized 360° armoured vehicle built on monocoque capsule based which can provide protection up to NIJ level III. The 2+6 seater vehicle with maximum speed of 160 kmph is an ideal force multiplier in war against naxals and terrorists, even in an urban scenario especially for the COMMAND VEHICLE OPERATIONS.


Ford India with its high powered SUV provides an ideal platform for SHRI LAKSHMI to build a ideal LIGHT ARMORED VEHICLE, with various tactical operational gadgets, to cater to Homeland security needs of the country. Mr. Anil Kumar Verma, Director, Shri Lakshmi Defence Solutions Ltd said, “Our Company has designed SHERPA, an indigenous vehicle to aid security forces for the counter insurgency, anti-Naxal operations and to enhance combat efficiency of the commandos.

And now Sherpa –The Company has rightly paced itself in the complete range of ARMORED VEHICLES required by Defence forces, The Company has already successfully supplied its range of vehicles in EXPORT MARKET & UN FORCES and has received good response. But due to lack of R& D facilities in INDIA, The company has to depend upon INTERNATIONAL LABORATORIES which are not only very expensive ,but also takes longer time, But with great determination and technical knowhow, capabilities within the company, has kept SLDSL far ahead with other companies in INDIA,
This year the defense allocation was raised to Rs 1, 64,415.49 crore showing the government’s greater focus on the modernization of the armed forces. We are an approved vendor with host of Indian defense establishments. We have been already supplying safety textiles such as bio- chemical, high altitude fabric, bullet-proof jackets and bullet-proof helmets, camouflage fabrics, uniform fabric, IR fabric and carbon fabric to Indian defense establishments. This has added another feather on our cap.”
