CAG report indicts Sheila Dikshit

Is Sheila in a soup,after CAG report indicts Dikshit for irregularities,spending surge in the 2010 Commonwealth Games (CWG),reports of due diligence was absent.Sheila Dikshit held an emergency meeting of her cabinet.Report of the Comptroller and Auditor General, on Commonwealth Games, 2010 was tabled in the Lok Sabha today. The report was tabled by the Minister of State for Finance, Namonarain Meena. CAG report has pointed out several irregularities in various projects undertaken by the government in the run up to the Commonwealth Games in October last year.CAG report blames the Prime Minister's Office for the appointment of Suresh Kalmadi as the Common Wealth Games Chief spending crores of taxpayer’s money.
Report embarrassed the Congress,speculations that the party may ask Delhi Chief Minister to step down.CAG 743-pages report enunciates financial irregularities in thirty three projects,ranging from the purchase of low-floor buses, construction of bus shelters and the LED light panels used on the buses,cost overrun on stadiums.Further observed several instances of wasteful expenditure by the Delhi government and civic agencies amounting to the tune of over Rs 100 crores over streets-capping and an excess expenditure of Rs 31.07 crore on street lighting by MCD, NDMC and PWD.
BJP spokesperson Prakash Javadekar said, "I think now it is the only moral duty of Dikshit that she must resign"."If not, the Congress high command must ask her to step down immediately and they can elect their new chief minister," he added.
Sheila Dikshit said, "We have not done anything wrong. Everything was done keeping in mind the national interest and prestige. We were entrusted with certain responsibilities and we delivered them."
