Classic Golf Resort, Mewat, Haryana, August 24, 2011: Delhi’s Gaurav Ghei held a one stroke advantage at the end of round two of the PGTI Players Championship being played at the Classic Golf Resort as his total stood at 10 under 134. Jyoti Randhawa and Vijay Kumar shared second place at nine under 135.
The day began with 66 out of a total of 126 golfers who had not played round two on Wednesday, beginning their second round at 7:15 am. The cut was declared at four over 148 at the end of round two on Thursday. Fifty professionals made the cut.
The third round commenced after the completion of round two at 2 pm. Thirty-eight golfers out of a total of 50 who made the cut, managed to complete round three on Thursday before play was suspended due to fading light. The remaining 12 golfers will resume their third round at 7:15 am on Friday. The fourth and final round will commence after the conclusion of round three on Friday.
Gaurav Ghei (65-69), who had completed his second round on Wednesday, continued to sit atop the leaderboard on day three even as Jyoti Randhawa (69-66) and Vijay Kumar (68-67) closed in on him. Jyoti and Vijay, both of whom played the second round on Thursday, shot brilliant scores of 66 and 67 respectively.
Randhawa’s second round featured seven birdies and a bogey while Vijay’s card included six birdies and a bogey.
Manav Jaini and Om Prakash Chouhan were in tied fourth at seven under 137.
SSP Chowrasia was placed tied 47th at four over 148.
Manav Jaini of Delhi has the overall lowest score at the moment as he is 10 under after having played 12 holes in round three. He is three under for the third round after 12 holes.
Himmat Singh Rai, Vijay Kumar and Jyoti Randhawa have a total of nine under at the moment. Himmat has played 15 holes in the third round while Vijay and Jyoti have both played 12 holes.
