Romanian health minister resigns

Romanian Health Minister Attila Cseke announced on Thursday that he had submitted a letter of resignation to Prime Minister Emil Boc, citing his dissatisfaction with insufficient health budget.Budget revision which the government adopted on Wednesday was made without him being asked for opinions, Cseke said at a press conference .

On Wednesday the government announced changes to the health budget for 2011, allocating an extra 340 million lei ((EURO)80 million) for health, which Cseke says is not enough.He says not being consulted about the financial needs of the health sector was "extremely serious."

Romania has been under pressure to reform its inefficient health system. Officials plan to draft a new health law by the end of the year.Media-agencies
