PM date Sikkim to review post-quake situation

 Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh kept his date with distressed people of the quake hit Sikkim on Thursday.
After taking a personal account of the devastation in the State, Prime Minster announced a package of one thousand crore rupees for the state.

After landing at Bagdogra Thursday morning, Prime Minster immediately took off on an aerial survey of the worst affected areas of Sikkim.

Dr Manmohan Singh met the injured in a Gangtok hospital. He enquired about their condition and wished them quick recovery.
 

State Governor, Chief Minister and senior civil and military officials will brief the Prime Minister on the extent of damage and relief operations in progress.

Concerned about the people of Sikkim the Prime minister had telephoned State Chief Minister Mr. Pawan Chamling immediately after the earthquake on the 18th of this month.

Dr. Singh had assured him of all help from the Centre for relief and rescue work.
