Maldives President Mohamad Nasheed resigns

Male,7 Feb 2012:President Mohamed Nasheed of the Maldives announced his resignation on national television.Maldives Police and Military has joined the opposition leaders forced  President  Mohamad Nasheed resigns and opposition has taken control of national broadcast.Maldives President Mohamed Nasheed resigned today following weeks of public protests over his controversial order to arrest a senior judge, the military said.
Chief Justice of the Criminal Court of the Maldives, Abdulla Mohamed  was arrested by Nasheed last month has been released, sources said.

Brig. Ahmed Shiyam told medias Tuesday that Nasheed has agreed to step down, hand over the presidency to his deputy, Vice President Mohammed Waheed Hassan.
