Chilean Consul’s Daughter Shot by Police in Venezuela

The daughter of Chilean consul has been shot dead by police in the Venezuelan city of Maracaibo, the Univision channel reported on Sunday.19-year-old Karen Berendique and another person drove a car and ignored police orders to stop at a checkpoint, the channel said.
Berendique received three gunshot wounds when police opened fire at the car. She died on the way to hospital.Eleven policemen are under investigation for their role in the incident.
Consul Fernando Berendique told AP there were three people in the vehicle, including his son.
He said the young people apparently ignored the order to stop at the checkpoint for fears of being robbed. Violent crime is routinely listed as number one worry in the country.Media agencies
