Samajwadi party rule Lucknow assembly

Samajwadi party came to power in Uttar Pradesh with a landslide victory in the assembly elections. SP  won absolute majority by winning 224 seats in the 403 member assembly.SP offering laptop to the students free of cost and its star campaigner Akhilesh Yadav showed excellent etiquette lured the UP voters.SP workers created public scene and the incidents of vandalism at Sambhal, Firozabad,Jhansi,Agra and police were mute spectator were matters of shame on which Akhilesh Yadav assured action.

Samajwadi party and its leader Mulayam Singh Yadav scripted victory in Uttar Pradesh by demolishing the citadel of the opponents in all the regions of the state. The party took a huge lead from the beginning and crossed the magic 202 figure for an absolute majority which evaded U.P for a long time. The party candidates won 220 seats and leading in 4 more. The ruling party BSP was left far behind with 76 seats and leading in 4. BJP has won 45 seats and leading in 2. Congress has won 26 seats and leading in 2. Congress ally RLD has won 9 seats, NCP-1 while others have won 14 seats and leading in one constituency.

Samajwadi's star campaigner Akhilesh Yadav said Mulayam Singh Yadav will be the next Chief Minister of the state. The parliamentary board of the party will meet tomorrow. He said, that the giant statues of BSP supremo Mayawati and party symbol elephant in Uttar Pradesh will not be pulled down after the change of guard in the state.
 Congress today accepted the verdict of the people in Uttar Pradesh and said it was against its expectation. Party spokesman Rashid Alvi said in New Delhi that his party will find out what went wrong. Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi said the results are not on the expected lines, and he accepts the responsibility for the party's shortcomings in the polls.

Rahul Gandhi said, he had strived to expand the political base of the party in Uttar Pradesh and had worked with the poor and the farmers. He said, the assembly poll trends favoured the Samajwadi party.Accepting BJP's defeat in Uttar Pradesh, party President Nitin Gadkari said the UP assembly results were not according to their expectations and they will examine the weaknesses. Samajwadi Party announced that Mulayam Singh would be the Chief Minister.
