Supporters of BSP and SP clash in Sandila area

One person was killed and five others were injured in Hardoi, Uttar Pradesh on Saturday in a clash between rival factions, said to be supporters of BSP and SP, police said.

The incident took place in Tikra Barar village in Sandila area when some people taking out a procession clashed with their rival faction and the members fired at one another after an altercation broke out between them over some issue, they said.

A 30-year-old man was killed and five others were injured in the clash, SP R K Srivasatava said on Saturday.

Defeated BSP MLA from Sandila, Abdul Mannan, who was minister for science and technology, claimed the victims were his party supporters and that they were fired at by SP workers.
