BADAL REVIEWS CONSTRUCTION OF PLAZA AT THE MAIN ENTRANCE OF SRI HARMANDIR SAHIB

PUNJAB CHIEF MINISTER MR PARKASH SINGH BADAL REVIEWS CONSTRUCTION OF PLAZA AT THE MAIN ENTRANCE OF SRI HARMANDIR SAHIB

Punjab Chief Minister Mr Parkash Singh Badal today directed the officers of the state government to complete the ongoing work on the construction of Plaza at the Main Entrance of Sri Harmandir Sahib by Deepawali of 2013.
Presiding over a high level meeting of the officers of the state government the Chief Minister directed them to ensure good quality of work while completing this ambitious project in stipulated time period. Mr Badal asked the officials present in the meeting to make sure that every inch of space is utilized in a proper manner for beautification and facilitation of thousands of pilgrims visiting the holy shrine daily. He said that there was no dearth of funds with the government adding that the main motive of this project is to enhance the glory of this sacred site.
Earlier briefing the Chief Minister about the project the officers of the Public Works Department apprised him that in total 8000 square yards of area is to be covered under this project for the facilitation of the pilgrims visiting this sacred place. They said that in the first phase they would cover 4800 square yards of area before June 30th this year and the remaining 3200 square yards of area would be covered by December 31st this year. The Officers also assured Mr Badal that the remaining work of interior decoration would be completed by Diwali 2013.
Meanwhile the Chief Minister asked his Technical Advisor Lieutenant General (Retired) Mr BS Dhaliwal, who was also present in the meeting, to inspect the ongoing construction work after every fortnight and submit the report regarding it to him for ensuring proper quality control. Mr Badal also said that he would be personally supervising this whole project adding that any sort of laxity and unnecessary delay in the work would not be tolerated and the officials accountable for it would be dealt strictly.
Later on the Chief Minister also presided over a meeting for renovating the local Circuit House by equipping it with State of art facilities. In the same manner the Chief Minister also visited the Gobindgarh Fort.
