Tokyo plan to buy Senkakus

China has denounced Tokyo Governor Shintaro Ishihara's plan to buy the Senkaku Islands.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Liu Weimin on Tuesday issued a comment on the plan mentioned by Ishihara in Washington on the previous day.

Liu said the islands are part of China and that it can exercise its sovereign right over them.

He added that any unilateral action by Japan on the islands is invalid and cannot change the fact that they are Chinese territory.
