The demand for
mobile handsets in the country has grown by 20% to 180 million in 2011 as
compared to 150 million for 2010, while in value term the same stands at Rs.
38,200 crore in 2011 as compared to Rs. 34,500 crore in 2010 at a rate of growth of 11%.
Indian Cellular
Association (ICA) estimates further say the demand will reach o 200 million in
volume term at a rate of growth of 11% in the year 2012, while in value term,
the same will stand at Rs. 43,000 crore at a rate of
growth of 13%.
