Russia's newly sworn-in President Vladimir Putin has nominated his predecessor, Dmitry Medvedev, as his prime minister.Chairman of the Russian State Duma, Sergei Naryshkin, announced the nomination on Monday.
Medvedev, who served as president for the past 4 years, is expected to be formally installed as prime minister on Tuesday after obtaining parliamentary approval with support from the ruling United Russia Party.

On Wednesday, Medvedev, as Prime Minister, is expected to join Putin for a large-scale military parade in Moscow's Red Square.Putin indicated his desire for a job swap with Medvedev last September when he disclosed his intention to run in the presidential election.

  Much believed Putin will retire as head of the United Russia Party so that Medvedev can assume the post.
