Sarkozy's home and office searched

French investigators have searched the Paris home and offices of former French President Nicolas Sarkozy.

Tuesday's raids are related to allegations that Sarkozy's camp received illegal donations from wealthiest woman of France L'Oreal heiress Liliane Bettencourt during the 2007 presidential election campaign. The probe centers on the finances of France's richest woman, L'Oreal cosmetics heiress Liliane Bettencourt.
Sarkozy has denied all wrongdoing.

Sarkozy's lawyer criticized the raids as futile, saying the former president is on holiday with his family in Canada. He said Sarkozy had already submitted information to investigators that included records of his activities during the 2007 campaign.
