UPA to finalize its candidate for Vice Prez today

UPA to finalize its candidate for Vice President in its meeting today.

Though the Congress has yet not officially named its Vice Presidential nominee, there are broad indication that incumbent Vice President Hamid Ansari is the candidate.
Trinamool Congress general secretary and Railway Minister Mukul Roy will attend the UPA meeting.
The party Chief Mamata Banerjee on Friday declined to attend the dinner being hosted by UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi in New Delhi on the eve of Presidential elections saying she has prior commitment.
Trinamool Congress is yet to make public its stand on the Presidential poll candidate. The last day for filing nomination for Vice Presidential election is 20th July, a day after the Presidential poll.
The election for the post is scheduled to be held on 7th August. The UPA is comfortably placed in the electoral college comprising 790 MPs.
Meanwhile AICC-in-charge for West Bengal Shakeel Ahmed expressed confidence that Banerjee will hopefully support both the Presidential as well Vice Presidential nominees of the UPA.
