New Delhi, 20th Oct 2012: Delhi Study Group led by President &  Ex. At the over crowded program, prominent social worker & Chairperson Varishth Nagrik Kesari Club Smt. Kiran Chopra, public servant Rashmi Singh, LSR college Asst. Prof. Dr. Vartika Nanda, Addl. DSG President Mr. Vijay Jolly along with noted Social activist Kiran Chopra & Dr. Vartika Nanda expressed concern over rising crime against women in Delhi & Haryana & declining sex ratio in India. Delhi & Haryana has endemic sexual violence. There is a surging wave of violence against women in Delhi & neighboring Haryana state. Who will stop this? questioned Mr. Jolly.

Women are unsafe in Delhi & Haryana. Last year Delhi reported cases of rape 414, abductions 1,422 and 550 molestations. Delhi accounts for 20% of such crimes in India. Moving cars in Delhi have rapes while Police claims that Delhi is one of the best patrolled city. The Chairperson of ruling party in India is a women, Speaker of Lok Sabha is a women, Chief Minister of Delhi is a women and yet there is rising crime against women in Delhi lamented Delhi Study Group President Mr. Jolly.

Smt. Kiran Chopra, Suman Nalwa, Rashmi Singh, Dr. Sudha Upadhyaya & Poetess Raisa Jilani unanimously stated that ‘Beti Bachao Abhiyan’ is a necessity in India. India is having a gender imbalance since the sex ratio for children under the age of six is 914 girls to 1000 boys according to 2011 census data. The female number are registering a decline since 2001 stated Mr. Jolly. This all leads to smaller families, human trafficking, bride sales, young men likely to engage in violent behavior, spike in crimes and public disorder. The need of the hour is that all sections of Indian society should participate in beti bachao campaign in order to improve gender ratio in India.

The program was attended by Doctors, Engineers, Architects, Lawyers, Ex- Defence Personnel, Educationists, Artists, Chartered Accountants, Journalists, Diplomats, Industrialists, Students, Bureaucrat & Professors in large numbers.
