ATITHI DEVO BHAVAH – THE REAL INTENT OF FDI IN RETAIL
CAIT COMPLIMENTED GOVERNMENT TO UPHOLD INDIAN VALUES
Congratulating
the Government for its unusual love and affection of the Government
towards the global retailers to fulfill the commandments of our ancient
tradition of “Atithi Devo Bhavah” (Guest is like God), at the cost of
not following the democratic process, misleading the nation by quoting
incorrect facts and figures, major deviations in FDI policy laid down in
the Parliament or even committing legislative flaws. “We would
certainly like to accord a “civic reception” to felicitate the
Government for keeping alive the traditional Indian values “–said Mr.
Praveen Khandelwal, Secretary General of the Confederation of All India
Traders (CAIT) while speaking at a Seminar held in Delhi today on FDI in
Retail organized by Khudra FDI Virodhi Rashtriya Morcha (KFVRM).
In a unanimous resolution adopted at the Seminar,
the KFVRM publically invited Commerce Minister Shri Anand Sharma to
accept the invitation of civic reception on behalf of the Govt. as he is
the torch bearer of FDi in India. The resolution moved by Mr.
Khandelwal, was seconded by people present in the Seminar with a
unanimous voice amidst thunderous applause. The resolution further
appreciated the efforts of the Government to prove the dictum “ Ghar
Foonk-Tamasha Dekh” ( Lit the House and enjoy the fun) into reality by
bringing FDI in Retail and lauded its unflinching commitment to
implement the policy at any cost.
The resolution praised the statement of Shri Anand
Sharma made couple of days back that “FDI policy is cast in stones and
one does not need opposition discourse” strongly reflects the
intelligentsia and wisdom of the Government though it is something
different that the Country is facing high time inflation, d-growth in
industrial production, devaluation of currency and economic crises. We
will shortly chalk out programme to hold civic receptions all over the
Country”-said Mr. Khandelwal
Addressing the seminar, Mr. Khandelwal accused the
Government for its partisan role in allowing FDI in Retail and while not
relying upon the domestic resources, the Government has preferred to
outsource foreign entities to restructure and develop the retail trade
of India. Majority voice of dissent across the Country has been grossly
neglected to provide extra ordinary benefits to global retailers. A
comparative look between FDI policy papers laid down in Parliament by
Commerce Minister Shri Anand Sharma on 25th November, 2011 and
Notification issued on 20th September, 2012 strongly corroborates the
above observations”-said Mr. Khandelwal.
The Khudra FDI Virodhi Rashtriya Morcha (KFVRM), is a
front against FDI in retail comprising of organizations of farmers,
traders, consumers, hawkers, small industries, transporters, economists
and retail experts.
