Sonia: Tell achievements of the UPA


Congress President, Sonia Gandhi on Friday called for balance between the responsibilities of the government and those of the party workers.  

Addressing Party's Samvaad Baidhak at Surajkund in Haryana this morning Mrs. Gandhi noted that there may be differences between the decisions taken by the government and the aspirations of the party.
But then, there should be a continuous dialogue to ease out the differences. Her message to party workers was clear that they must explain to the people of the country the compulsions of the government behind its tough economic decisions.
She also urged party to tell the people the achievements of the UPA in last eight years.
Complementing the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh for steering the nation through these tough global economic scenario, she said that UPA government has done well on social front by schemes for welfare of common man and poor.
She asked the party men to ready themselves in the next 18 months for the next Lok Sabha polls.
In her message to the government, Sonia Gandhi said that it must fulfil the unmet promises of 2009 manifesto by full force.
She asserted that those party workers who are in the government should strive hard to fulfil unfulfilled promises in the 2009 manifesto.
She also targeted the opposition for trying to grab power by any means and at any cost.
Gandhi said that their greed would weaken democracy and secular values.
The Prime minister Dr Manmohan Singh spoke on economic challenges faced by the country.
Later Finance minister P Chidambaram initiated a discussion on the economic situation.
