The tournament boasts of an exciting line-up of top Indian professionals such as defending champion Vinod Kumar, former champions Mukesh Kumar, Shamim Khan (current Rolex Rankings leader), Gurki Shergill as well as other leading professionals like Rashid Khan, Harendra Gupta, Om Prakash Chouhan, Abhijit Singh Chadha, Shankar Das, Vijay Kumar, Feroz Ali Mollah and Harmeet Kahlon, to name a few. The top foreign golfers in the field include Mithun Perera (Sri Lanka), Anura Rohana (Sri Lanka), Kunal Bhasin (Australia) and Md Zamal Hossain Mollah (Bangladesh). The local challenge will be led by Jamshedpur’s Navtez Singh. There are 118 professional golfers participating in the tournament. Mr H M Nerurkar, Managing Director, Tata Steel said in a message, “As someone once said "The ardent golfer would play Mount Everest if somebody put a flag stick on top!." Mount Everest is far away but near the hills of Dalma and in the heart of Jamshedpur are the courses of Beldih and Golmuri that have hosted some of the country's finest golfers and nurtured a breed of golfing enthusiasts who are making a mark in the country's golfing circuit. Tata Open has, over the years, become one the most talked about golf events in the country and has been instrumental in elevating the standards of Indian professional golf. I welcome all golfers to the event and wish them the very best. Playing at the courses of Beldih and Golmuri is a challenging prospect and we look forward to an extremely successful and competitive event. I hope that you will carry back fond memories of the tournament and the Steel City!” Mr Padamjit Sandhu, Director, PGTI, said, “We thank the TATA Group for their immense contribution to Indian professional golf over the last decade. The TATA Open has always been one of the most competitive events on the PGTI with professionals using their skills to the optimum in order to excel at two different courses. We wish the players all the best and look forward to a fascinating week of golf.” The Tata Open is unique in the sense that it will once again be staged at not one but two golf courses - Beldih and Golmuri. Both these courses are lush green, beautiful and very well-maintained, with the charming Dalma Hills in the background. While the 70-year-old Beldih golf course flaunts long fairways, Golmuri is a smaller, greener boutique course disallowing golfers any room for error.
