DEMONSTRATE SCINTILLATING HORSEMAN SHIP
1. The
much awaited Annual Horse Show by the NCC riders taking part in the Republic
Day Camp was on display at the Garrison Parade Ground, Delhi Cantt in the
afternoon today. The National Cadet Corps has three Remount
and Veterinary (R&V) Regiments and 15 R&V Squadrons spread all over the
country. The cadets carry out training in these units throughout the year to achieve
a high degree of proficiency in Equestrian skills. At the Republic Day,
National level Inter-Directorate NCC Equestrian competitions are held; the
culmination of the entire exercise manifests in a Grand Horse show witnessed by
thousand of spectators. The best Horse riders, both boys and girls
cadets put up nail biting display of Tent Pegging, Show Jumping and Dressage.
2. Lt
Gen PS Bhalla, AVSM, DG NCC, the Chief Guest, gave away the trophies and prizes
to the much deserving winners. The cadets who bagged awards this year are :-
(a) Best
Rider (Boys).
Winner - Cadet Arun Sejwal (NCC
Dte Punjab, Haryana, Himachal
Pradesh & Chandigarh).
Runner Up - Sgt Raizada Shaurya Bali, NCC Dte, Delhi.
(b)
Best Rider Girls.
Joint Winners - SUO Babita Agarwat of NCC Dte, Delhi and
Cadet Tejshweeni Potekar of NCC Dte, Madhya
Pradesh.
(c ) Dr. Roop Jyoti Sharma Trophy.
Winner
Under Officer - SUO K Santosh Kumar of NCC Dte, Andhra
Pradesh.
Runner Up - Cadet Sahil Kumar of NCC Dte Punjab, Haryana, Himachal
Pradesh & Chandigarh.
(d) DGRVS Trophy.
Winner Cadet - Cadet Arun Sejwal of NCC

4. In
his address, Lt Gen PS Bhalla, AVSM DGNCC lauded the excellent riding skills
and horsemanship talents of the NCC cadets. Equestrian Training and Horsemanship
skills provide an opportunity for adventure to NCC Cadets in the Country. He stated
that horse riding develops the qualities of courage, steadfastness and
discipline besides inculcating sportsmanship amongst the youth, which is paramount
for development of the youth.
