AIRASIA X GOES LIVE WITH “QUIET ZONE” ON BOARD FLIGHTS ACROSS ITS NETWORK
Offering guests a more pleasant journey on long-haul
SEPANG, 1 FEBRUARY 2013 - AirAsia X, the long-haul, low fare airline affiliate of the AirAsia Group today, officially took off with the “Quiet Zone” on all its long-haul flights across China, Taiwan, Japan, Korea, Australia, Nepal.
AirAsia X has reserved the first seven economy class rows (row 7-14), immediately after the Premium cabin for this purpose. This new ancillary offering, the “Quiet Zone” is exclusively for guests who are above age 12. The “Quiet Zone” cabin features a new ambiance with soft lighting, offering a more relaxing cabin atmosphere, which will ensure a more pleasant journey for our guests. AirAsia X’s Chief Executive Officer, Azran Osman-Rani said, “We are pleased to carry out another new product option for our guests, an added value to our long-haul, and low fare services on our A330-300 fleet. This product enhancement allows our guests to have a more pleasant and peaceful journey with minimal noise and less disturbance. A heavenly package for those who wants peace of mind.”
Guests who are interested in traveling in the “Quiet Zone” cabin may simply choose the pick-a-seat option during the booking process within the ”Quiet Zone” cabin area. No extra charge will be imposed for this option except for the standard pick-a-seat fee. Guests who are below 12 years of age will not be able to book and select a seat in the “Quiet Zone” as part of this new product enhancement.
Azran added that “the airline is not banning kids from travelling, but instead, is enhancing the array of product offerings on board to suit its guests individual needs and preference. We also offer 3 infant bassinets in the other two larger economy cabin sections to cater for families with young children. Hence, offering a fair choice for our guests.”
AirAsia X was the first long-haul, low fare carrier to introduce Premium Flatbed seats, which have standard business class specifications of 20” width, 60” pitch and stretch out to 77” in full recline position.
The Premium flatbeds feature universal power sockets, adjustable headrests and built-in personal utilities such as tray table, drink holder, reading light and privacy screen. Premium seat guests also enjoy premium complimentary products and services including Pick A Seat, Priority Check-in, Priority Boarding, Priority Baggage, 25kg Baggage Allowance, Complimentary Meal and Pillow & Duvet.
It is also noteworthy to highlight that recently, AirAsia X was recognised among the best top 5 in-flight meals served on-board under the long-haul, low cost airline category at the 2012 inaugural Skyscanner Asia Pacific Food Awards. Airlines in the low cost long-haul category were rated based on taste, presentation, and value for money. The airlines were voted via a survey conducted on 200 international travellers and bloggers who had flown with low cost long haul carriers within the past three months from the Asia Pacific region.
