Japan offers job training to Myanmar refugees

on February 19, 2013
Refugees from Myanmar are taking part in a job training program in Thailand funded by the Japanese government. The aim is to equip them for a better life back home.
Some 140 thousand refugees are staying in Thailand. They fled Myanmar under the former military government. But with the country on a path to democracy many are hoping to go back.
Members of the Japanese government earmarked over 100 thousand dollars last month for a vocational training scheme. The funds are being given to a relief agency. Two Japanese corporations are also providing machinery and equipment.
People in the program are learning computer skills and how to maintain agricultural machines.INPUTS nhk
