Meghalaya polls: Campaigning ends


 Meghalaya, campaigning for the February 23rd Assembly elections came to an end this afternoon. The State Government is taking all steps to ensure free, fair and peaceful polling by providing adequate security force, where ever it is necessary.

Ensuing assembly election,  91 companies of central paramilitary forces in addition to 5 companies of state arms police force have deployed across the state. Out of 2485 polling stations, 355 polling stations have been declared as hyper sensitive, while 545 polling stations are sensitive.

There are 44 company central para military force been deployed in Garo Hills region. The 35 border out posts located in Khasi and Jaintia Hills on the Indo-Bangladesh international border are under strictly vigil of BSF along with ITBP force to check infiltration.
