India celebrates the Holi festival

India celebrates the Holi festival today,yestrday on Tuesday Holika Dahan was celebrated,is a symbolic burning of evils.
Festival Holi is associated with nature and is considered as culmination of winters and beginning of summers. 

President Pranab Mukherjee has greeted the people on Holi and expressed hope that the festival of colours will strengthen faith in national values and promote oneness and harmony.
In his Holi message the President said that the colours of Holi are a reflection of our diversity and multi-cultural heritage.

The Vice President of India Shri M. Hamid Ansari also greeted the citizens on the joyous occasion of Holi, saying that it reinforces the message of our unity in diversity and of equality of all human beings.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in his message, said that the festival of colours is a celebration of life and goodness, and gives us an opportunity to strengthen the spirit of brotherhood and deepen the bonds of friendship amongst us.

Foreign tourist also drenched themselves in various hues of colour while they sang and danced to celebrate Holi.
Tourists from different countries mingled with the locals even as they smeared each other with powdered colours.

Holi Celebration in  Uttar Pradesh, monks and ascetics clad in saffron robes gathered at the temple city of Ayodhya, and showered petals of flowers on each other to observe the spring festival.
Spreading a message of peace and unity, they sang divine songs in remembrance of Lord Rama, who as per the Hindu mythology had taken birth in the same city.
In Ujjain devotees played holi with religious fervour and enthusiasm.
Hole celebrations in Kullu of Himachal Pradesh, men as well as ladies in large numbers gathered at various places to herald the festival of Holi.
With the aid of musical instruments, they sang devotional songs and also ballads of yore to mark the relevance of Holi.
On their part, the ladies, greeted each other with hearty hugs and exchanged pleasantries on the occasion.
In Rajasthan, locals in Bikaner city celebrated Holi in a unique manner. They played a soccer match dressed up as Hindu gods, movies stars, demons and politicians in the spirit of Holi.
A large number of costumed participants were visible chasing after the ball in the game and the spectators cheered them in the festive mood.
In Bihar, revellers celebrated Holi in Patna by replicating Spanish festival, as they engaged in a tomato fight.
The festival saw hordes of people participating in the tomato fight, where they preferred the tomatoes to the chemically created colours available in the market.
Senior BJP leader L K Advani also celebrated Holi at his residence.Many other senior party leaders were also present.
Festivity, colours mark Holi in capital
Colours of all hues, the smell of 'gulal' and joyous spirit pervaded the streets today as Delhiites came out to celebrate Holi in the capital. Revellers exchanged greetings with each other to celebrate the festival of colours.
People visited friends and relatives, gifted 'gujia' (a traditional sweet) besides smearing 'gulal' on each other's faces.
In the national capital, police personnel were deployed across the city. Police had issued warning against hooliganism in the guise of revelries.
Commuters faced inconveniences in the morning as the public transport, such as buses and metro were shut till late afternoon.
