Pope Francis meets his predecessor the Benedict XVI

Annals of Catholic clergy, first time in six hundred years  a meeting has taken place between the current and former heads of the Catholic Church.Pope Francis met Benedict XVI on Saturday at Castel Gandolfo, a papal summer villa south of Rome. They prayed together at a chapel and had private talks.

Observers say they must have discussed the pressing issue of how to reorganize management of the Holy See. The Catholic Church has suffered a series of scandals recently, some involving priests sexually abusing children.Benedict is now 85 years old and stepped down last month due to health problems. He became the first pope to resign in 600 years.Benedict will return to the Vatican after renovation work on a monastery there is completed.
