7.2 quake strikes Kuril Islands

A strong 7.2-magnitude earthquake has struck Russia’s Kuril Islands in the Far East on Friday. The epicenter of the tremor was located at a depth of 122 km – deep enough not to pose any significant risk. There have been no reports of damage or casualties. No tsunami warning has been issued. The Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Science reported the magnitude as 4.2.
