DPS, Vasant Kunj defeated by Don Bosco High School, Panjim


Bangalore, April 20, 2013:Panjim’s Don Bosco High School registered their third victory by thrashing Delhi Public School (DPS), Vasant Kunj, New Delhi 3 – 0 in the inter-city leg of the 3rd Mahindra Youth Football Challenge at the Bangalore Football Stadium on Saturday.

DPS has been experiencing a tough run in the matches played thus far and went down goal less to the Goan school. Stars Ryan D’Costa scored two impressive goals while counterpart Ronaldo C Dias hit one in the 50th minute to lead their team to victory. Talented Elmer Seaueira was named Star Performer of the match.

In other matches, the boys from St. Joseph's Higher Sec School Calicut beat the team from Don Bosco High School Mumbai 2 – 1. Nathan Fernandes from Mumbai scored the first goal of the day for his team and gave his school an initial edge that went on until Leon Augustine hit a match leveler for Calicut in the 34th minute of the game. In the 38th minute, young Gani Jafar scored a second for St. Joseph’s, helping his team to win the contest. Lazim Ali was the Star Performer of the match.

The third match played between Ashoknagar Vidyasagar Banibhaban Kolkata and Greenwood International Bangalore ended in a 1 – 1 draw. Mohammad Habib scored the first goal for Kolkata in the 21st minute and Rishabh Agarwal helped level scores by scoring for Bangalore. Suman Dutta, who continues to impress onlookers with his outstanding skills, was named Star Performer.

India’s best under-14 football players from leading schools across six Indian cities are here to battle it out in the tournament.

The Mahindra Youth Football Challenge is the Mahindra Group’s commitment to promote football at the grassroots level. The company has partnered with Scottish football giant Celtic Football Club, who is taking on the responsibility of training and developing young talent identified through the initiative.

Habib 1) tie Greenwood International Bangalore 1 ( Rishabh Agarwal 1).

8 am Bangalore v/s Goa; 9 am Delhi v/s Mumbai; 10 am Kolkata v/s Kerala
