Kapil Sibal Inaugurates NIELIT Workshop

 A national -level workshop, organized by the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT), was inaugurated today by Shri Kapil Sibal, Union Minister for Communications & Information Technology. In his keynote address, Shri Sibal underlined that NIELIT can play a big role in spreading IT literacy and education to reach the people in rural areas. He desired that NIELIT diversify its activities in other skill development projects. He expressed the hope that NIELIT be used by State Governments for getting their officials trained in the field of e-governance.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri J. Satyanarayana, Secretary, Department of Electronics and Information Technology stated that over the years, NIELIT had developed a wide range of courses in different verticals including courses in the formal sector like M.Tech and MCA; popular courses like ‘O’, ‘A’, ‘B’ and ‘C’ Levels in the non-formal sector and several short term courses in areas like Hardware Repair and Maintenance, Embedded System, VLSI Design, Industrial Automation, Power Electronics and Biomedical Electronics. The renewed vigour, with which NIELIT has achieved its objectives in the last one year, is praiseworthy, he added.
In the past few months, NIELIT has initiated many new projects which include capacity -building in the field of e-governance and improvement in service delivery mechanism for students and stakeholders through an invigorated web portal that showcases latest features. NIELIT has also recently collaborated with the Department of IT, Government of Jharkhand for conducting a special online examination in IT Literacy for the employees of Government of Jharkhand for departmental promotions and increments.
