Sanjay Dutt moves SC, seeks more time to surrender

Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt on Monday approached the Supreme Court seeking more time to surrender to serve his remaining three-and-a-half-year jail term for illegally possessing firearms in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts case.

The son of famous Bollywood couple late Sunil Dutt and Nargis filed the petition as the period of four weeks granted by the apex court for his surrender comes to an end this week.
He pleaded that he should be granted more time to surrender in order to complete his film projects as huge money has been invested by the producers in these projects and these would be affected.
The apex court had on March 21 granted Dutt, who has already been in jail for 18 months, to surrender within four weeks to undergo the remaining prison term.
