Praful Patel Asks His Ministry to take Up the Issue of Filling of Obc Vacancies in Central Public Sector Enterprises on Priority Basis |
Shri Praful Patel, Minister of Heavy Industries & Public Enterprises, has asked his Ministry’s Department of Public Enterprises (DPE) to look into the issue of including a parameter in the MoU mechanism wherein each Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE) will be required to state as to how much reservation it has provided to the OBCs. Acceding to a suggestion made by Shri Natuji H. Thakore, M.P., on the issue of providing adequate reservation to OBCs in CPSEs, Shri Praful Patel instructed DPE to proceed ahead proactively and see if this can be made part of the MoU system for all the CPSEs. Shri Patel gave this instruction here today while presiding over the meeting of the Parliamentary Consultative Committee attached to his Ministry. The meeting was attended, among others, by Shri Natuji H. Thakore and Shri Mahendrasinh P. Chauhan, M.P., and senior officers of the Ministry. Shri Chauhan referred to the issue of recurring problem of loss making and sickness in CPSEs and wanted concrete steps to be taken to deal with this problem. Shri Praful Patel informed the meeting that the Government has taken a number of steps to deal with this issue, including restructuring and revival packages for the sick CPSEs and pointed out that as per the latest Survey of CPSEs (2011-12), the Total Income of all CPSEs during 2011-12 showed an increase of 24.08% over previous year and stood at Rs. 18,24,627 crore; also, the Total Turnover/ Gross Revenue from Operation of all CPSEs during 2011-12 also rose by 22.96% compared to 2010-11. Members of the Consultative Committee also wanted the Government to take steps to upgrade the technology of the Public Sector Enterprises so that India gets a competitive edge in the global market and also the people are served in a better way. Shri Praful Patel informed the Committee that efforts are already afoot in this direction and pointed out the fact that BHEL, which is a ‘Maharatna’ CPSE under his Ministry, is in consultation with various entities of the Government for establishing an end-to-end manufacturing facility for Solar Panels ( including the provision for the raw-material needed for them). |
