GoSports Foundation to host inaugural Athletes' Conclave on 17th July in Bangalore

Bangalore, July 8th,2013: City-based non-profit GoSports Foundation today announced a first-of-its-kind Athletes' Conclave on the 17th of July, 2013 in Bangalore, where notable senior athletes and other eminent personalities will share their experience and knowledge with aspiring Olympians and Paralympians on sports performance and career related topics. The GoSports Foundation Athletes' Conclave is aimed at creating an interactive platform, providing a unique opportunity for aspiring young athletes to interact with each other, while enriching their game and their sporting journeys through sessions by legends such as Abhinav Bindra and Pullela Gopichand, among others.

Aiming to provide a platform that enables interaction, information and inspiration, the GoSports Foundation Athletes' Conclave 2013 will play host to top junior and elite Indian athletes across multiple sporting disciplines who will be in attendance. The programme will feature lectures and seminars from some of India's leading experts in the fields of sports, journalism, law and sports sciences. Speakers include Olympic Gold Medalist Abhinav Bindra, former All-England Champion Pullela Gopichand and senior sports journalist Sharda Ugra, amongst other notable personalities. The topics that will be covered range from an athlete's mental preparation for a match to communication skills required to deal with journalists - almost everything a young athlete needs to know.

Talking about his participation at the event, India's only individual Olympic gold medalist Abhinav Bindra said, "I am delighted to be speaking at The GoSports Foundation Athletes' Conclave, a platform for the exchange of knowledge and ideas amongst our nation's athletes. My own Olympic journey has been extremely challenging and deeply fulfilling at the same time.  I look forward to having an opportunity to share this journey and what I have learnt from it with the new crop of Indian sporting talent."

Speaking of the opportunity to connect with the country's young talent at the GoSports Foundation Athletes' Conclave, Pullela Gopichand said, "Representing your country in your chosen sport is a rare honour, and only a few athletes get this opportunity. Even fewer get to experience the joy of winning an Olympic medal. Achieving glory takes a lot of hard work, unending passion for your sport, and unshakable commitment. At the GoSports Foundation Athletes' Conclave, I hope my insights can inspire the young athletes in attendance to go out there and be the best version of themselves at all times."

Having worked with aspiring Indian athletes in Olympic and Paralymipic disciplines since its inception in 2008, the GoSports Foundation is registered as a non-profit trust and is premised on the belief that sporting champions are created when the right talent gets the right support at the right time. Speaking on the need for the GoSports Foundation Athletes' Conclave, Managing Trustee, Nandan Kamath shared, "Through the GoSports Foundation Athletes' Conclave we are working towards better informed and empowered members of Team India and we strongly believe that the small steps taken through this initiative will contribute to the future of our nation's Olympic dreams. We are delighted to have so many experts share their time and expertise so willingly in pursuit of a common goal."
