Apoorva Lakhia’s ZANJEER based on Oil Mafia issue in the country!!

22072013

Director Apoorva Lakhia who has made some hard hitting films like ‘Ek Ajnabee’ and ‘Shootout At Lokhandwala’, is back this time around with an exciting and contemporary adaptation of the 1973 cult film ‘Zanjeer’
Apoorva’s Lakhia’s Zanjeer is a modern high octane flick that deals with the much talked about Oil mafia issues of India!
Commenting on Zanjeer, Apoorva said,  ‘We wanted to make the film realistic with current events in mind so when I was offered to remake Zanjeer, the Sonavane killing and the oil mafia was in the news, we decided to base the basic story structure around that as with research, we found the premise extremely interesting and ACP Vijay Khanna gets transferred to the yellow stone police station in Mumbai’
Zanjeer will have Telugu Superstar Ram Charan making his much anticipated high octane Bollywood debut with the gorgeous Priyanka Chopra opposite him. Priyanka Chopra essays the role of Mala, a Bollywood crazy, spunky NRI, naïve and innocent who comes to Mumbai for an wedding and becomes one of the prime witness. Ram Charan will be seen reviving the iconic character of an honest police officer ACP Vijay Khanna with the film set in today’s times revolving around the notorious dealings of the oil mafia.
We have also learnt that Slain ace journalist J-Dey’s character is also woven in the film as in real life he was the journalist who is known to have lost his life while he was investigating in this oil mafia issue!
One will also see a rarely showcased realistic scenario in Zanjeer where gallons of Kerosene are being stolen from an oil tanker and are being sold for a large amount!!
Well, get set as the wheels have started rolling for this year’s high octane action saga aka Zanjeer which is all set to hit the screens on 6th September 2013!
’Zanjeer’ produced by Reliance Entertainment, Puneet Prakash Mehra, Sumeet Prakash Mehra and Flying Turtle Films, Co – Produced by Rampage Motion Pictures and is Directed by Apoorva Lakhia
