BRAI Bill dangerous for Indian farmers

Join me in asking the Standing Committee to recommend the withdrawal of the dangerous BRAI Bill.

Naresh -
Like most people, I enjoy healthy food - that’s why I amstrongly opposed to genetic modification of our food.
I was happy when I got to know that citizens' positive action has already won our first victory with regard to BRAI Bill. Our Government is trying to introduce this legislation to give easy approval for GMOs (genetically modified organisms) in our food and farming.
Thanks to your support on Sridhar’s petition, thedeadline for public feedback on the Bill has been extended by an additional 45 days, by the Standing Committee on Science & Technology in the Indian Parliament.
But our fight for safe food is not over yet. The BRAI Bill will not only be dangerous for Indian farmers and consumers but also to our national sovereignty.
It’s time to act. We have to ask the Committee to recommend the withdrawal of the Bill. Public pressure ensured that the deadline was extended and now we have to ensure that we are not exposed to dangerous and untested GM food.
If this Bill is approved, GM crops will gain fast-track approval without adequate safety tests or public consultations. This will only benefit multinational biotech seed corporations like Monsanto.
To ensure that we save our food, farmers and freedom, you should join our campaign - Sign the petition and share this mail with your friends.
I look forward to your support,
Nandita Das via Change.org
