GAIL employees contribute one day's salary for relief work in Uttarakhand


New Delhi, July 11: The employees of GAIL (India) Limited have voluntarily contributed one day's salary for relief and rehabilitation work in disaster-hit Uttarakhand. The contribution to the Prime Minister's Relief Fund was handed over to Hon'ble Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Dr. M. Veerappa Moily by GAIL Chairman and Managing Director Shri B. C. Tripathi here today in the presence of Shri Vivek Rae, Secretary, Petroleum and Natural Gas and senior officials of the Ministry, along with Shri M. Ravindran, Director (Human Resources) and other officials of GAIL.

Apart from this, GAIL has contributed Rs 2 crore to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund as an immediate measure as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility initiative for Uttarakhand where thousands lost their lives and many more were injured and rendered homeless by the flash floods last month. The GAIL employees contributed Rs 92.25 lakhs from their salaries to aid relief and rehabilitation work in the state.

GAIL (India) Limited, a Maharatna company,  is India's principal Natural Gas Company with activities ranging from Gas Transmission and Marketing to Processing; transmission of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG); production and marketing of Petrochemicals like HDPE and LLDPE and leasing bandwidth in Telecommunications. The Company has extended its presence in Power, Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) re-gasification, City Gas Distribution and Exploration & Production through equity and joint venture participations.
