Punjab and Uttar Pradesh set for the title clash of the Alchemist IHF Federation Cup 2013

New Delhi, July 27, 2013: Punjab will take on Uttar Pradesh in the final of the Alchemist IHF Federation Cup 2013 here at the Shivaji Stadium tomorrow. Punjab got the better of Tamil Nadu, whereas Uttar Pradesh defeated Karnataka in the semi finals today to set up the final clash.

In the first semi final Uttar Pradesh rode on a hattrick by vice captain Diwakar Ram to beat Kartnataka 5-2. Sarabjit Singh and Sunny Sonkar were the other two goal scorers for UP. For Karnataka, Kushal J P scored the first goal in the 11th minute to give Karnataka an early lead. The other and the last goal of the game came at the 65th minute from Umesh K R.


In the other semi final Punjab beat Tamil Nadu 5-1 to make it to the final. Tamil Nadu went ahead in the fourth minute with a goal from Adam Sinclair. But from hereon it was all Punjab. Parvinder Singh scored in the 9th and the 70th minute, Sendhil Kumar found the net twice in the 43rd and 58th minute. Rajin Kandulna was the other scorer for Punjab.

The final will take place at the Shivaji Stadium tomorrow at 3.45 pm.
