“Right to Play” supported by Butterflies

The fundamental right of childhood- “Right to Play” has been supported by Butterflies and Delhi Child Rights Club in our campaign for children’s “Right to play”. After organising the children’s “Common wealth games” in 2010 and having various consultations with children, they came up with a charter of demands for the policy makers. A study was also launched collating necessary information pertaining to state of “play” in Delhi. One of the finding of the study was that there are more than 4000 municipal and private schools in Delhi , out of which 500 do not have grounds  in usable conditions and 3500 do not open their doors for others to play in.

For the past three years Butterflies in association with Delhi Child Rights Club (a network of 17 NGOs working on the issue of Child Rights in Delhi) has been organizing monthly Sports days in various parts of the city for the street and working children. In continuation we have decided to celebrate this year’s Independence Day in a different way. Let the children of two different worlds play together. 400 children from different backgrounds will come together to play and have fun!

We are organizing a Sports Day on 6th August 2013 at Ambedkar Stadium in support of our campaign for children’s “Right to Play” from 10 am to 4 pm. The schedule of the event is:
