Sharath Gayakwad finishes 10th in 200m Individual Medley

 IPC World Championships commence for Paralympian Sharath Gayakwad

Speedo athlete Sharath Gayakwad finishes 10th in 200m Individual Medley


August 14th 2013, Bangalore: Speedo athlete and ace Paralympic swimmer Sharath Gayakwad began his campaign at the IPC World Swimming Championships in Montreal, Canada on Tuesday. Sporting the Speedo Fastskin 3 Racing System, he clocked a time of 2:42.92 minutes,finishing 10th in the 200m Individual Medley. Sharath's personal best timing of 2:38.17 in the 200m Individual Medley was clocked at the London Paralympic Games, 2012.

Clocking a time of 2:03.79 minutes, Belarusian Ihar Boki earned a Gold medal smashing his own world record of 2:06.30 minutes, he had set at the London Paralympic Games, 2012. Iaroslav Densysenko of Ukraine won a Silver medal and Russian Roman Dubovoy settled for a Bronze. Australia's Sean Russo and Romania's Petre Prundaru finished fourth and fifth respectively.

Sharath will be seen in action next at the 100m Breaststroke on Day 4 of the Championship on 15thAugust, 2013.
