Brahimi to join John Kerry & Sergey Lavrov in Geneva on Syria

UN envoy on Syria, Lakhdar Brahimi to join US Secretary of State, John Kerry and Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov in Geneva today. They will explore the feasibility of another round of Geneva-II peace conference for a larger political solution to the Syrian crisis.
US and Russian leaders accompanied by a team of experts will hold a second round of negotiations on ways and means to eliminate Syria’s chemical weapons arsenal after it promised to hand them over under international control. The talks are likely to continue over the next two days. US Secretary of State John Kerry told reporters in Geneva that the international community is watching how Syria delivers on its promise. He said that the action has to be real, comprehensive, verifiable, credible, timely and warned that there will be consequences if it doesn’t take place.Mr. Kerry also rejected the stand by the Syrian President that Syria will hand over the data on its stockpiles of chemical weapons after 30 days of signing the treaty. He said the standard procedures are not relevant in this case since the chemical weapons have already been used. In an interview to a Russian television,

Syrian President Bashar Al Assad had said that his government intends to hand over its chemical weapons under international control provided the US stops threatening to attack Syria. the documents from Syria to sign the Chemical weapons convention which bans the development, production, stockpiling and use of the weapons of mass destruction.
Meanwhile, the United Nations has confirmed that it has received the documents from Syria to sign the chemical weapons convention which bans the development, production, stockpiling and use of the weapons of mass destruction.
