An electric car has left for a 2-month tour around Japan to demonstrate there are enough recharging stations across the country to allow such a trip.
A citizens' group that promotes the spread of eco-friendly vehicles has organized the tour.
A departure ceremony was held on Tuesday outside the industry ministry in Tokyo.
The group's representative Tadashi Tateuchi said there are more than 1,800 rapid recharging stations across Japan now. They hope to prove it's enough to make a full tour around the country.
